Francis Bowron came from England in 1860 to teach in the new log school on the Bobcaygeon Road. His wife Mary and he had four children, Margaret, John, Anthony and William. Bowron, a well-known and highly respected citizen, was the census taker who enumerated Dysart's first settlers in 1861. His log home, where his only daughter Margaret (who married William Gainforth) was brought up, is now part of the display at the Minden museum.
