1. The book of vital records from Konotop city townhall for the recoding of births and deaths of Jews temporarily residing in Konotop for 1833-1834: record 2, 26 June 1833 (4 July) birth of Shlioma, son of Zalman Dworka, from Mogilev guberniya Beltsy city. Circumcision performed by Konotop Jew Khaim Kiri[unreadable] (fond 584, opis 1, delo 404, page 11). The city of Beltsy is located near Gomel (modern day Byelorussia), was at that time the center of uezd. Substantial migration of Jews into Chernigov guberniya happened from the territory of current Byelorussia after two divisions of Poland in 1783-1795. We could speculate that Dworkin family came from Gomel area. There are no other Jewish books of births, marriages and deaths for Konotop. [1] |
